Do I Need Up Grade My Modem Firmware to a V.90?
1. It is important to check following information to make
sure if you should do the upgrade. In most cases, you need check the ATI
value by using Hyper terminal within Windows 95 or Windows 98.

1). If ATI11 = V1.002EC4
(V1.002EC2, or V1.002EC5, or V1.002/M1/EC6) & ATI119 =-

V1.002EC5, or V1.002/M1/EC6), It needs upgrade. If your modem
ATI11 an ATI119 display V1.002 but with different extension, it also
need to be upgraded.
2). If ATI11=V2.083A1/EC1
& ATI119 = UNIVERSAL SF1156V(V+)/R19(-DL) (-P) V2.083A1/EC1, it DOES NOT need
upgrade.
3). If ATI119 = EDGE EUROPE FM-56K-VSE-2M 2.065A1/EC1/M1, it DOES NOT need
upgrade. This modem is actually a 56K&V.90 combined modem
already. You may like to get a later driver to run it. K56V90EI.EXE

3. Before doing upgrade, delete 1) all the modem drivers
from Control panel's device manager and 2) delete all modem related files
from windows\inf\other directory. After upgrade complete, install the new
V.90 drivers.
